Professor Yi (Samuel) Chen
Professor Chen is Associate Professor of Practice (Urban Heritage and Sustainability) in the Department of History, Fellow in the Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and Research Fellow in the Urban Systems Institute, HKU.
His research and teaching deal with the history of urbanism and planning, exploring how our urban heritage and planning history could effectively contribute to our urban sustainability and resilience. Before joining HKU, he researched and taught at the University of Oxford.
He received his M.A. (Harvard) and Ph.D. (Oxford) in Western Asian Languages and Civilisations. Dr Chen works closely with the Master to develop the college environment. He oversees the Tutor Team at College Two to support and facilitate the academic and professional growth of our students.
